Childminder Development Grant
Under the National Childcare Investment Programme (NCIP), a grant of up to €1000 is available to home-based childminders.  This grant is designed to assist childminders, already providing a service in their own homes, to enhance the safety and quality of their service through the purchase of small capital items. It may also give financial assistance to new or prospective childminders with their initial set up costs.
Up to €1,000 is available to childminders towards the cost of suitable, age-appropriate equipment, toys or minor household adaptations (up to 90% of the total cost). For example, in order to claim €1,000, a childminder must present receipts showing expenditure of at least €1,111.
The grant can be used for the purchase of small capital items such as items to enhance safety/quality in the service; equipment; toys or minor adaptation costs to improve the quality of service provided. The final decision on eligible capital items will be at the discretion of South Dublin CCC. The following list (which is not exhaustive) gives examples of the different types of costs that may be covered by the grant.
