Support For Childcare Providers

The SDCCC is continuing to support childcare providers in South Dublin County. Nurturing those relationships remains a crucial element of our work and the SDCCC aim to provide relevant support services, including training in line with the organisations strategic objectives.

At present the SDCCC is conducting a Childcare Provider Survey, which we encourage all providers to complete so we can assess your specific needs moving forward into 2010.

Below is an outline of regular support and events up to September 2009:

  • Three quarterly newsletters have been circulated so far keeping providers up to date with policy news, events and training.
  • The Project Development Officers (PDO’s) have supported almost 30 providers in receipt of funding under the Community Childcare Subvention Scheme.
  • SDCCC have been working closely with Childminders in the county to develop the quality of care being provided through training and information workshops.  We’re also hoping to start networks throughout the county in 2010 which will enable childminders to work together on activities or excursions.
  • During 2009 SDCCC has coordinated funding available under the Parent & Toddler Grant Scheme and the Professional Development grants to enable childcare workers to access training locally.
  • Childcare Provider Visits
South Dublin County Childcare Committee has three Programme Development Officers who support private and community childcare providers in South Dublin County. The aim of the visits is to gather feedback from you in relation to how the SDCCC can assist you and help assess current training and support needs.
